NFL Headed For Some Hard Knocks......Vol. 10 (June 1, 2011)

Good Morning....

With the NBA and NHL Finals plus MLB distracting football fans, the NFL lockout has been put on the back burner....But it's there....This ugly fight between millionaires and billionaires....Arguments will be made before the court this Friday and then we sit back and wait for a decision on whether the lockout continues....Great strategy, let the lawyers circle and the judges decide....If this fiasco continues and affects the opening of training camps both sides will begin to feel negative feedback from the paying public....It looks like HBO's  "Hard Knocks" will be a casualty this year....Always entertaining to watch, Rex Ryan took it to new heights last year with his colorful commentary and personality....I was hoping to watch Carolina and the Cam Newton experiment....This business of cutting employees pay by NFL teams stinks!....No team has lost any money yet and ticket sales are ahead of 2010 yet teams are slashing assistant coaches and front office employee's salaries or forcing them on unpaid vacations....Just awful....Chris Collinsworth doesn't think this thing gets settled until November....That might be too late....Drew Brees figures the seeds were planted back in 2008 after union boss Gene Upshaw passed away....Upshaw was tough to deal with across the table and some owners feel this is the time to drive a hard bargain....I don't know the answer but DON'T MESS WITH FANTASY FOOTBALL!

In an uneventful Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Miami brings a workingman approach and behind the solid efforts of James, Wade and Bosh defeat Dallas....The Mav's seem Nowitzki one dimensional like....And when King James is throwing line drives in from behind the 3pt. circle, nobody is beating them....Good to see that Kevin McHale is taking the Houston Rockets head coaching job....The NBA has their own labor disaster on the horizon but who cares?....Has there ever been anyone more overpaid and overprivileged than a NBA player?

Stanley Cup Finals begin tonight in Vancouver between the Canucks and Bruins....It promises to be a tight and exciting series....Could come down to the Vancouver power play vs. the acrobatics of Boston goalie Tim Thomas....Another key will be the B's defense pairing of Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg vs. the outstanding Sedin twins, Daniel and Henrik....Ryan Kesler is the Canucks wild card while it remains to be seen if Boston coach Claude Julien takes the reigns off talented rookie Tyler Seguin to help Boston's power play....Keep an eye on Patrice Bergeron....And somebody tell those moronic Green Men to stay away, far away, from the B's bench....Especially if Mike Milbury is between the benches doing analysis for NBC....We don't want any shoe incidents....Despite the gnawing inside that Julien will mess this up I'll go on record with the Bruins in 7.

It's June 1st and you can look for MLB teams to bring some top prospects up from the minor leagues....For money reasons teams don't bring up prospects until June because they gain another year in the negotiation process....This year teams jumped the gun with prospects such as Eric Hosmer, Michael Pineda and Zach Britton starting early....But Fantasy owners should keep their eyes on these talented players who could have an impact going forward....3B Brett Lawrie (Blue Jays), 1B Anthony Rizzo (Padres), 2B Dustin Ackley (Mariners), C Jesus Montero (Yankees), OF Domonic Brown (Phillies) and OF Desmond Jennings (Rays)....Fantasy stat line of the night, Carlos Marmol RP (Cubs), 1/3 inn, 5 hits, 6 earned runs, 1 walk, 0 strikeouts and a loss....Minus 16 points in my league....Ouch!

Jack Nicklaus counsels Tiger Woods to get healthy before he plays more golf....Yea, because if he contends in the US Open the knee, leg, ankle, whatever is fine....If he plays poorly, then something will be wrong physically....Tiger....He is the world's most ultimate prima donna.

For Ray....
"Don't play too much golf. Two rounds a day are plenty." - Harry Vardon.

....talk to ya.....
